In vintrace, there are three different ways that the addition of water to a wine can be tracked in the system. The choice of which method to use depends on how you would like this to show up in your compositions.
Method One: Treating water as an additive – without an auto increase in volume
This method involves setting up water as an additive in the system and making additions to the wine as necessary. As this does not change the volume of the wine in the vessel you will also need to perform a measurement operation equal to the amount of water added. The loss reason of “TTB – Water Addition” can be used for this operation.
This method will not show up in the composition of the wine.
Method Two: Treating water as an additive – with an auto increase in volume and correct TTB reason
vintrace now allows you to set up water additions so that the batch volume is automatically increased and the TTB Loss reason is applied automatically.
Head into Winery Setup > Production > Additive.
Open your water additive; check the Increase wine volume check box and select “TTB – Water addition” in the Vol change reason field:
You can then make the water addition using an addition operation which will allow you to enter in the final volume in your vessel.
Method Three: Transferring water from a virtual tank
In this method you can add Water as a varietal and then perform a bulk intake of water to a virtual tank. This way you can perform a regular transfer from the virtual water tank to any wine you wish to add water to.
This method will affect the composition as the Water varietal will show up.
