Putting wines under Tirage effectively groups Bins full of bottles together in much the same way as vintrace handles barrel groups for still wines.
In the following example we’ll look at a scenario where you have 7079 bottles under tirage and you want to disgorge 528 bottles, leaving the balance on tirage.
The first step needed is to split out the 528 bottles into its own tirage group. Locate the wine under tirage and select Operations > Tirage admin.
Manage the new Bin group
Click the (Copy) option as highlighted above to first account for the balance of the wine we want to remain under tirage. You’ll notice that each of the bins are listed with the number of bottles in each. In our example we’re going to split out 528 bottles so we need to deduct that from the current bin/bottle configuration. In the above screenshot you can see we have one partial bin, so I’ll pull 479 bottles from there and then the balance from the one above it. In real life, you can deduct these from any of bins that you where are physically removing bottles.
Then, adjust the balance of the other bin to be (528 minus 479 = 49 bottles less)
Now – if you’ve made it this far, we’ve accounted for the bottles remaining under tirage. Don’t saving yet.
The next step is to account for the bottles that we’re splitting into a new tirage group, ready to be disgorged. Click the Split/Transfer tab at the top of the Tirage Admin window:
Check the option called Split to another tirage group.
What we need to do here is tell the system what bins we’re using to split out our 528 bottles into ready for tirage. If you’re not tracking individual bin numbers the easiest way to do this is to simply select (Quick Fill) and then enter the total number of bottles and the storage area:
This will automatically choose an empty Bin or Bin(s) and fill out the bottle distribution for you:
Balance the split
The final step for splitting the tirage group into two is to make sure everything balances. To do this, go back to the General tab and then click the Loss calculator button:
Pay particular attention to the Account for xxx Litres/Gallons line in the bottom right of the window. It should balance to show that you’ve accounted for all the bottles.
Once you are happy with the split, Save.
You’ll now have your split tirage group into two allowing you to Disgorge just the 528 bottles. Disgorging is done using the Operations > Packaging option in the same way a bottling is used for still wines.
