There are a variety of things that can be automatically named and coded in vintrace using an Auto-codes. This will also enable you to easily create multiple entries (eg barrels, tank) and name them all using your defined naming convention.
Configuring an Auto-code
Head into Winery setup > Workflow > Auto-Code > New Auto-code Policy
The Auto-Code Policy type will determine which item in vintrace the code will apply to. In the example below we will configure an auto-code for barrels.
There are three types of auto-code elements you can add into a Auto-code:
Attribute will use the properties of a barrel you are creating to add to the new barrels name. For example if you select YearYY and add a barrel with a year of 2019, the barrels name will start with 19. Once you've decided on an attribute clicking Add will enter it in to the Code Elements.
This is static text that always appear in the code. This can be quite useful to put in a delimiter for readability purposes. For example in a barrel code of "19-001" the "-" character would be entered using the Text type.
INC adds a incrementing number that increases by one each time your Auto-code is used. Enter in a 0 to the Value field for the number of digits you would like in your incrementing number. For example if you enter 00 vintrace will show two digits (01, 02, 03); if you enter 000 vintrace will show three digits (001, 002, 003)
NOTE: you must use an INC in your auto-code to ensure that each entry is given a unique name.
A completed auto-code for barrels make look like the following
When creating an auto-code a wine batch, bin or gyro cage you can use the Attribute for Custom Code. These custom codes can be configured in Winery Setup > Workflow > Custom Codes. If you add a custom code to your wine batch on creation it can then be displayed in the auto-code if configured correctly. This allows for much greater flexibility in coding conventions and is not restricted to standard vintrace attribute lists.
Use an Auto-code
When you are ready to use this Auto-code to create multiple barrels at once, head into Winery setup > Vessels > Barrels> New Barrels
Click the magic wand icon to select the Auto-code policy you wish to use.
Fill in rest of the mandatory fields and any others that are to be used with the Auto-code.
When you have completed the barrel setup, head down to the area where you specify how many barrels you want to create with the same properties.
It is important to remember that every barrel you create with this run of the Auto-code will share all of the same characteristics. If you need to change Cooper, Capacity, Year, etc, you'll want to create a new barrel (still using the Auto-code), fill in the specifics for that set of barrels and create the correct number of identical barrels. If you checked Keep number unique, vintrace will track the last number used and your new run will pick up with the next number.
When created, vintrace will add as many new items as you specified, all with the correct naming convention applied.
